なるほど、hypothesis（仮説）の形容詞って覚え方がいいかもと思う。

hypothesis
: an idea or theory that is not proven but that leads to further study or discussion

hrpothesisは証明されてはいない理論やアイデアで、更なる研究や議論がされているもの。ってことね。

これはhypothesisを分解すると

-hypo は下

-thesisは論文、命題、テーマ

といった意味にそれぞれなるってことね。

なるほど、problem(問題)がアイデア(idea)として固まるまでの中間がhypothesisなわけね。

ひとつの理論にまでは成立していない程度のハナシ。つまり「仮のハナシ」って覚え方がしっくりくる。
